We need your help more than ever to ensure that the fight for equality for all gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people continues on.

Since its inception, Boulder Pride has taken the lead role in advocating for social justice and educating the public about the issues and concerns affecting the lives of LGBTQ community. From adovcating and educating thousands of Coloradans about the lack of basic legal rights and protections that Referendum I would have granted to high visibility rallies and town hall meetings, Boulder Pride has been and remains at the forefront of advoacy on behalf of GLBT people not only in Boulder but throughout Colorado. However, we cannot do this by ourselves.

Senate Bill 125 - "Harmful to Minors" bill

The "Harmful to Minors" bill, sponsored by Sen. Ted Harvey (R. Dist 30) and Rep. Amy Stephens (R. Dist 20), concerns regulating sexually explicit representations that are harmful to minors, making it a Class 2 misdemeanor to distribute sexually explicit material or exhibit a sexually explicit performance to minors. The language of this bill is written so broadly that it could include much HIV/AIDS/STD and other healthy living instruction for GLBTQ youth in Colorado.

RECOMMENDED TEXT OF E-MAIL TO SENATOR:

RE: Vote NO on SB 125 the "Harmful to Minors" bill

I am with Equal Rights Colorado a non-profit working to promote equal rights for Colorado's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) people and their families through non-partisan state legislative advocacy. I am contacting you to express my concern over SB 125. As you may know, this bill just passed the Senate Judiciary Committee and will soon be moving on to the Senate floor. The language of this bill is written so broadly that it could include much HIV/AIDS/STD and other healthy living instruction vital to the protection of GLBT youth in Colorado. I believe it is important that our youth can still become educated in ways to prevent the spread of these diseases and that is why I am asking you to vote no on SB 125 the "Harmful to Minors" bill.
